SINGER  -  SONGWRITER  -  MUSICIAN  -  MIXER  -  PRODUCER

Dirk Vermeij gained notoriety in the 1990s as the frontman of the band I TRAVEL, with whom he toured extensively throughout Europe. In 2001 he co-wrote and produced the top 10 hit "Out On My Own" by Michelle and won the 'National Song Contest', representing the Netherlands at the 'Eurovision Song Contest' in Copenhagen. Dirk signed a deal with EMI and formed a new rock band called PARIS DANDIES with his mates from the famous Herman Brood & His Wild Romance. From 2013 to 2019 he joined Dany Lademacher's WILD ROMANCE and did gigs with Nina Hagen and Otis Redding III.

Meanwhile, his desire to start a power trio was so strong that Dirk formed RAW MEDICINE, and they are still active. During the COVID-19 period he also established the acoustic group THE UNORIGINALS. As the lockdown persisted, Dirk spent every minute at his studio THE VOODOO LOUNGE. Since the late 1980s he has been recording, mixing and producing himself as well as other artists at the globally renowned Wisseloord Studios, so during this time of no live music he honed his mixing skills and was invited to join a Mix with the Masters seminar at Studio La Fabrique conducted by 5-time Grammy Award-winning mix engineer Chris Lord-Alge.

THE  VOODOO  LOUNGE

THE VOODOO LOUNGE is where the magic happens. It's Dirk's main studio, perfectly equipped for mixing. Numerous singles, EPs and albums have been sent out into the world via The Voodoo Lounge. Overdubs, pre-production, post-production, remixing, mastering and creating karaoke tracks are also among the possibilities. Dirk works with Pro Tools and has an impressive collection of plugins.

He collaborates with STUDIO PLUG UNIT for complete band recordings or tracking live drums, where he has access to an 84 square meter atmospheric live room (including a stage, PA, theater lighting and a bar) as well as a control room of 36 square meters stacked with high-end equipment.
